You know how it goes, when there is a need to restrict one’s calorie intake, everything non-low-fat and non-diet seems to call your name. More so if they also happen to be high in calories. They scream your name and hold up capital letters spelling out your name. They sparkle under your gazing eye.
I look at the frozen sheets of puff pastry, the lonely bunch of hanging bananas and the under used oven… so sayang…
But I also know how the story of cravings often ends. All the time spent fantasizing about how all the flavours will mingle when that innocent morsel is in your mouth. All that imagination about how glorious the entire dish will look right in front of you. All those itsy bitsy things that you do while you are in the midst of craving will eventually lead to utter disappointment when you finally sink your incisors into your choice of craving.
Without a doubt, it will end with a bewildered, ‘You mean…THAT’S IT???’
So I hide behind layers of my steely resolve. Steal a glance and the oh-so-honest mirror. And take out that box of furry grapes that mummy thinks is still safe.
